How many of yall hunt with the moon times. I knew a guy that always hunted by moon rise and set times. He killed good deer and always said the peak movement was when the moon was highest in the sky during the day. I have never really kept up with it on paper but I have noticed some relation with the time and sightings when I remember to check the moon times.

I usually just hunt as much as time and motivation permit. I've never really kept scientific track of the moon cycles and planned to hunt more here and less there accordingly. If I was super limited in time or motivation, I would consider hunting that way, otherwise, I hunt hard during October, back off a bit before we transition into the pre rut and rut, and then hit it hard as I can.

As far as moon times go, I don't really pay any attention to them. Sometimes I think we may believe there is a correlation when we see a bunch of deer or a lot of activity at a certain time of day and then later realize that was one of the "moon times" for the day. We then put ourselves in a situation to notice when they quote/unquote work, but not notice when they don't work because we only pay them casual attention.

A good book for this and other factors that affect deer movement is Solving the Mysteries of Deer Movement by Dr. Kroll.
