Shot a 9pt today that went almost 215lbs field dressed. What do you reckon he would have weighed with his nuts and guts still attached???

Between 269 and 287 approximately.

Nuts and guts account for 20 to 25% of body weight.

Man, that's huge. Monster corn belt bucks weigh 300 lbs. Whitetails don't get much bigger than that.

I looked at hundreds of harvested deer live versus dressed weights and came up with some averages. Although the data was collected in South Carolina and Georgia, I believe the numbers will still hold true in Tennessee. From that data, does and yearling bucks usually have dressed weights that are 75% of live weight. 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 year-old bucks usually have field dressed weights around 80% of their live weight. Mature bucks have dressed weights that are around 82% of their live weight.

So to estimate live weight from dressed weights, divide the dressed weight by:

...for does and yearling bucvks--0.75
...for 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 year-old bucks--0.80
...for mature bucks--0.82

That's about what I figured. Thanks for the input. I just know that I got a couple more that are bigger than this fella and if he went 215 dressed I got a couple pushing 300 live weight!
