Maybe everybody isn't after antlers!! Did that ever cross your "redneck" mind?? Since you say you are a redneck..Alot of people don't get to hunt alot,and some do..So those ones that don't get to hunt much,are gonna shoot the first legal deer to fill their tag..People like you burn me up.Trying to dictate what everyone else "should" kill..I say mind your own business and stop trying to put other people down for shooting what they want..Its their tag,not yours!
My sentiments exactly Cecil....maybe not as stearn, but feel the same way.

I know alot of the so called trophy hunters and they would just as soon shoot a nice buck and cut the horns off and let the deer lay rather than shoot a spike and take it with them.....thats what makes me sick. i would rather see someone shoot what makes them happy and take it home to feed their family than some bone head trophy hunter shoot one and take the horns. lets keep it real most of these guys dont want the meat because we all know that a young one taste alot better than a ole ruttin buck. For me i would love to shoot a nice trophy to hang on the wall or put me in the record books but at the end of the day i shoot what will fill the freezer. Just think about, im sure you guys know more of these so called trophy hunters than you do of those that are happy with a spike or doe!!!

Well, everyone is definately entitled to do what they want within the law.
If you, as a responsible hunter, can walk up to a dumpster full of young buck heads and not be a little bit discouraged, then I guess this thread is not for you.
However, it bothered me because I have had "that guy" in our deer camp, and he would kill everything in sight and give the meat away. He just liked to kill.
Only an idiot wouldn't believe thats often the case.
Plus, if its kids (which someone suggested), I doubt they'd be throwing the horns away.

I've never killed a buck smaller than a 7 point. When I do see young 4 points running around the woods on a Saturday morning, I admit feeling a bit sorry for them.
I kind of see the middle of this argument. These guys were hunting within the boundaries of the law and that is fine. This being said, I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that most of us on this thread, even the most hardend hunters, would have shook their heads upon looking into that dumpster. I'm not saying that we would have all necessarily chosen to publicly criticize these folks, nor would we have expected others to publicly sympathize with these criticisms, but, some part of you (secretly) disapproves. Or... maybe I'm wrong.

They do it just to say they killed a buck. Its pitiful I agree. Cant just shoot a doe because then they cant say " I got a buck". The general public in many areas thinks killing a doe is horrible but killing a 4 point is somehow an accomplishment so thats why they do this. Even though killing a 1.5 year old buck is just as easy as taking a fawn the general public just doesnt realize this. Ive heard it many times this year already, everybody asks me what Ive killed, Ill say 2 does, and they just sort of get this bad look and proceed to tell me about the awesome 4 point that their nephews brothers 1st cousin killed like he is some sort of great hunter LOL
Thats exactly right.....Most people think, "Why would anyone kill a doe? Thats another deer that cant have babies!" They dont understand the effect of having a good buck-doe ratio or any other concept of managment. Its always been that way and always will be that way. Its up to the people that do have a clue to do their part and to educate others. Other than that, there isnt much that can be done about it. I will add this though. I dont have a problem with someone killing ANY deer if they are doing so to fill the freezer. Meat hunting for meat that you are actually going to use is something that is perfectly fine IMO. I think that was part of gods plan in putting animals on the earth in the first place, to feed us!
