Hypothetically: if you shoot a deer from your regular stand, how long would you wait before returning to that stand to hunt again, or would you wait at all? Do you feel that the noise from gunshots will make deer avoid a certain area?

After the first few I don't worry, but 3 or so inback to back days I will leave the area for 4-5 days to let it "cool-off" a bit.

I would continue to hunt it before i got down if it is legal to kill another deer. There is no set answer for how any deer in general will react...

Last year I shot a deer on a draw hunt, leaned up against a tree and less than 10 minutes later shot another deer, both with a rifle. The second deer was not spooked and did not seem worried at all. He may have traveled a long way in that 10 minutes, but this is not the first time I have seen deer show up shortly after a shot. I think a mature deer that can relate the gun shot to danger may stay away for a while.

I generally wait a few days, but have on occasion, killed deer on successive days from the same stand.

Lots of times I don't think it's the shot that hurts the stand.

It's the walking around looking for the deer and spreading your scent, dragging your deer, bringing in the 4 wheeler, gutting the deer close by, ...I think each of these things are worse than the shot

On one property I hunt the nieghbor is a big gun owner, and has several class 3 (full auto) weapons, and is always shooting..The deer don't even notice a gun shot when I hunt..LOL 2 years ago I was hunting a field and about 90yds away had an 8pt come down the edge,I shot and missed, and he didn't even stop walking, just kept on causually walking along..LOL I worked the bolt and took a better rest and caught him in the neck the next shot..So I have to say thank you to mr neighbor who shoots thousands of rounds of ammo a year..LOL

I have seen them never check up what they are doing when I shoot and then I have had several in a field, shoot one of them and the rest turn inside out trying to get outta Dodge.

Different deer different reactions I guess.
