Man and I hunted yesterday afternoon.
The two spots we were hunting are, apparently, morning spots. I have hunted them three times and the only deer sightings we have had have been in the mornings.

Anyway, I was sitting on the ground in a fence row and caught movement about 15 yards in front of me in the field.
The field we are watching has lots of "rolls" to it and several retention levee's in it.
When hunting on the ground something can get right up on you before you ever see it, or it sees you.

I reach for my muzzleloader and then realize it is a red fox.

I laid the gun back in my lap and picked up my binoculars and checked it out.
Then it saw the Honda parked in the field behind a retention levee and scooted back about 50 yards and sat down on top of that levee.

I watched it for a few minutes then mouth sqeeked to it and watched as it cocked it's head sideways listening, trying to pin point the location of the sound.

Then it squatted down and took a dump. Guess that is what it thought of my calling. \:D

It moved up the levee a few feet and just sat down.
I started sqeeking to it again, very lightly, and it moved up a few yards and sat back down.

We repeated this several times till it finally commited and came on in.
I had it at 8 yards when it sat down and was just staring at me through some light brush between us.
It finally moved on off.

I had on blaze orange camo hat and vest.
No face mask or gloves.
I found it odd that it got that close, and that is why I asked in another forum if they were colorblind.
I would have thought they saw in color but apparently they don't.

Pretty neat being that close and watching it react to and then commit to my calling.

Saw no deer though. \:D

...I kinda did the same thing one time...had one come into a gut pile, and when it finished, it came and curled up on a stump right out in front of my stand. Every once in a while I would squeak at it and it would sit up and look around. Never made me out, and stay'd there for half hour or so.....pretty cool.
