We hunted sat.. Primarily "across the river" and out of our group we saw 3 bucks all day from the stand... No does... Bunches of turkeys and 1 coyote that my buddy missed... Now on the ride to and from that was a different story... Deer everywhere

I have my hunt there this Sunday, Nov. 14th. I am really looking forward to it. Since you have to be there by 3:30, I am staying in Kingsport the night before. Right now the weather calls for 30% chance of rain. I hope that changes by then.

Most of these huge bucks are right around the buildings and production areas... They know where they are safe or so it seems haha

Bruce cole told us they have roughly 6000 acres.. And carry a winter deer herd of between 500-600. Breaking down the numbers it seems kind of low but I'm not sure from a biologist point of view how it compares to other places...

I may be totally wrong by saying this but I would bet those 6000 acres are the total of the entire installation and not huntable acres. Once you take away the unhuntable areas I would bet the numbers would go up.

But....I could be wrong.

ya he said huntable was half of that.. But if they are carrying a total deer herd of 600 take half away then that's 300 deer for 3000 acres...

Even if you say 600 deer for 3000 huntable acres.. That's still broken down into 20 deer for every 100 acres... Doesn't seem like that many deer if u think about it that way.. In a place that the majority is fenced and just a few hunts a year I would have thought the deer numbers would be booming but not so much...
