I have killed alotta deer with a 30-06, 150 grain bullet is what I prefur, but I have taken several deer with a 243 also 80 grain bullet, in open fields, I use 100 grain in the woods.
Point is out in the fields yes, if I hunt the woods I prefur the heavier bullet!

This is some good stuff here! Ive always been tolad that a .270 is a much flatter shooting cartridge than the 06, so is it safe to say that one can achieve similar proformance out of the 06? There is sooo many more choices in cartridges for the 06. Sounds to me like its the hands down most versitle rifle on the market.

Just remember, the most important thing is shot placement, no matter which bullet you choose. Also remember if your shooting a semi automatic rifle,it is not as accurate as a bolt, or a single shot rifle. Just something to consider.

I have found the Remington core lokt bullets work real well,in 30-06,I think I use the 180 gr.

Corlocks are my bullets of choice with the 30-06, 150's are hard to beat!
