A hunting buddy of mine was set up on the edge of a sage brush field, a real nice 8pt appeared at the edge, got down on all 4's and crawled all the way across the field.. about 75 yards.. when he got to the edge he stood up and my friend nailed him... I have never seen a deer do anything like this but I have no reason to doubt my friend..

I've seen it too, especially where they are pressured heavily. I watched a doe being chased by dogs do it one day. She hit her belly a crawled a circle back behind the dogs, then got up and took off again.

Not unusual at all. The last time I saw this I was a stander on a deer drive. I had a few does with a good buck headed towards me and they had to cross a narrow sawgrass strip. The does bounded across and the buck dropped, belly crawled across, then stood up and kept after them.
