Curious if anyone has shot them? How do they perform vs the 150.

Never shot the 125gr out of the 06 but my GUESS is that they will fragment on impact at closer ranges. Lots of surface damage, low penetration from fragments. Funny thing is...I do have a box of them that I bought 20 years ago for antelope hunting.
Would really like to hear what others have to say that have dropped an animal with them.

I expect they'd do a great job on whitetails. I've sure had good luck with the 150's tho.

Would really like to hear what others have to say that have dropped an animal with them. That is not true. They don't do what you mentioned.Just because they are a smaller gr bullet don't make them bad. they will penitrate just fine.A friend shoots them and has had no problem with them. They did not fragment on impact, and has had good penetration. You don't have to have a heavy gr. bullet on deer. My son shoots a 100 gr out of a 243 which is smaller, and never had a problem. I shoot a 130 gr. out of a 270. no problem at all.Deer are called big game, but in reality they are not. moose, elk, now those are big game

it's not so much the bullet weight as it is the construction. the 125 gr. 30 cal. bullets are designed for varmints and they WILL blow up on impact.

thanks stik, that is what was coming to mind but I could not articulate it.
hpdi, what type of load is your friend using? What has happened to the deer after being shot?
Although having looked at the Remington website, I might be picking up a box of managed recoil...

Although having looked at the Remington website, I might be picking up a box of managed recoil... He is using A Hornady bullet. The deer after being shot has either hit the grown,or seen go down in sight. I don't think you will have a problem with the 125 bullet.

That is the factor...reload/special manufactured vs factory ammo.
Im glad this post came up cause it is making me do some research. Most of your factory is small varmit ammo. Fast and "explosive".

I have 2 30/06, and I reload 125gr Nosler BT for both of them. The 30/06 is not the choice rifle I take to the woods with. Most of the time I hunt with my Remington 7600 in 25/06 with 115gr BT. I have killed deer with my 30/06 using the 125 gr BT, and believe me,,,It punches a hole ALL the way thru. I only hunt with Ballistic Tips in all of my deer rifles. I may waste some meat, but I usually don't have to track them far at all.
