Yep, go early and don't worry. Move it after daylight if your unhappy. I've shot a lot of deer from trees that I thought were terrible once I climbed them. Not many shooting lanes, 30 yard visibility. But since I am already up there I gave them a little while to show me something and more often than not, it works out. Some of the best trees in the most beautiful woods you can imagine give me nothin! Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Light and noise before daylight isn't a deal breaker either. Try to keep it to a minimum and you'll be just fine. Besides that guy that waits to gray light to walk in will most likely push something your way. Better to be there before you can see than after.

I'm going to give you best advaice on this thread. Wait until it is not dark.
I don't even walk into the woods until I can do so without a light and my success rate went up.
I do the same thing. It just doesn't make sense to me to crash through the woods in the dark when I have a gun in my hand unless I have a strategic agenda.

When I've been in that exact situation, I make sure that I'm at the general stand area right when the gray light appears. It only takes a few minutes or less to pick the best tree in the area. My tree criteria: at least 2 open shooting lanes, downwind of where I'm looking, sun at my back. This is just my experience here, but I don't think I've ever spooked a deer with my stand assembling sounds...ever. Last week I was assembling my Pack-n-Stack backpack ladder stand and I didn't know a doe was bedded 35 feet away. I assembled the stand and locked it onto the tree and she never budged. I climbed the stand and started sawing off some limbs and THAT was what finally made her stand up and blow. I blew back at her a snort/wheeze, then grunted 8-10 times about a second apart to imitate a buck and doe getting busy, and she walked off another 15 yards and laid down again. An old timer once gave me the best advice I've ever been given about deer (even though I didn't know it at the time). He said, "Don't try to out-think the deer. They ain't that smart." The more years I've hunted, the more I know he was right.

Amen brother. But they will always do things you never expected as well. If they did the same thing all the time it would be easy and no fun right?
So it looks like it comes down to two suggestions. Go in well before light or go in at first break of light. Try both and see what works for you.
