I didn't think there was a way to tell the difference from buck to doe droppings..

Clumped up crap doesnt mean buck crap, is what my biologist buddy told me. He said that clumped up crap was the first crap taken after being bedded down for a while. All I know for sure is that it means a deer had to poo.

Old does clump up sometimes too. Bucks do most of the time even later in the day.

I think you are right but a clue to weather or not it is from a mature deer is the size of the pellets .
