Poser, you're right "It's only $10", but it's only $10 to the processor too. He could've waived that fee & gotten future business because he did you right. Instead, he's making sure he gets the $10 & running the risk of you not using him again. It's absolutely none of my business, but my deer would've been coming home with me. To each his own, good Luck & God Bless!

Your faith that there was one in there made all the difference. Did I read it right? You hadn't been in that spot since last spring? WAY to gut it out on the tiniest of info. Great deer and story.

Yeah, I scouted that setup back in the late Spring. It was so close to a bedding area that I knew I could only get in there on a rainy day. I only hunt that close to bedding areas when I have to and often those stands are a 1 time opportunity hunt. At this particular area, I had hunted 5 previous times (mixed morning and evenings) with no deer sightings and decided to move in tight to the bedding area using the rain as cover.

Congrats!! Great buck, great pics, Really great story! IMO, a 2.5 yr old buck off highly pressured land can be as hard or harder to kill as 4.5 or older that hasn't been hunted much. That is a hunt you'll always remember.

Wednesday must have been my "synchronicity with the universe" day: I successfully recovered a buck from the woods, The Titans signed a Hall of Fame receiver and my bottle of (difficult to get your hands on) George T Stagg bourbon arrived.

The way I figure, I'll soon be sippin' whiskey, eating venison chili and watching the playoffs.

My liquor store only gets 3 or so bottles of George T Stagg every six months. That WAS a good day!
