I got curious about the other thread regarding heaters. I remember as a kid making these for fun with alcohol and TP. However, if you've used one hunting are you worried about odor? I hear they burn clean but that don't mean odor free, or am I wrong?

Someone told me the other day to use a coffee can and a can of sturno. I know the sturno has a scent, but can't really smell anything after it's lit. But I don't have a deer nose.

If you use the coffee can and alcohol deal you are dealing with a time bomb. If you get any space in between the bottom of the can and the TP it will become a rocket and burn the piss out of you. Too dangerous IMO to use when there are so many other things you could use.

The odor isn't a problem for deer cause it's not a danger smell. Human, wolf, bear scent = danger. A little burning candle or sterno...not danger.
