I moved my cam to an area that I found that 'looked' like deer had been bedding - and sure enough does had been coming in and out - had lots of pictures of them -

But then two days ago - this little guy shows up - first pictures of him on the property - I'm guessing a 2.5 -

If I 'think' I know what I think I do - with the start of buck 'shifting' we must be real close to pre-rut/rut -

Thoughts?

Yup. The rut range expansion/shift usually begins around Halloween in my area. I will pick up the first pictures of most of the rut range shifters between the last few days of October and November 15.

These are bucks that normally don't utilize the monitored property, but due to either range expansion or acual range shifts, start using the property just before the rut peaks. These bucks usually continue to use the property for 4-6 weeks before disappearing back to where they came from. Some rut range shifters/expanders show up on the monitored property year after year, but only during the rut.

I guess you are hoping that the buck from last year that had a chandlier on his head shifts to your property. You know, the buck that had his antlers sheared off. \:\) (assuming he is still living)
