Lmao! Best post of the year...but I agree!

No need to check it. You should be fine. Bore sighting is the only way to go. Who wants to spend hours at the range wasting ammo anyway. \:D

Here is a suggestion, if you cannot sight it in yourself, see if you can find a friend who can do it for you. Most hunters would not care to do so if they are checking thier own, or if they have a handy place. Just supply the powder and materials. I have sighted in a rifle for a friend before.

Good alternative. Anything beats hunting with a weapon that hasn't been shot to test accuracy.

Strongly agree with this advice. ;\)

I let a fella come to my place to hunt a couple years ago (a freind of a freind). He shot a deer we tracked her down she realy had not gone that far, but when we found her all that he had done was blew both legs off between the ankle and knee. He was lucky to have done that. I told him to shoot her again because she was still full of life being she had not lost any blood. Well he missed. I asked if he had sighted in his gun and his reply was I couldn't get it to hit papper but I had it bore sighted.. He is not invited back.

I had a shop boresight a gun for me once....once.

It was missing a real estate sign sized target at 40 yards. Completely missing it no matter where I aimed.

Turns out that the scope mounts needed to be shimmed as there wasn't enough travel in the scope to get on paper.

Now I do a rough boresight myself and then shoot it to dial it in.

A gun shop owner I knew bore sighted several guns over the years. He said he always set them high and to the right on the grid to get them closer to the center of the target. He was right on every gun that he bore sighted for me. Of course, I had to fine tune them before I hunted with them. The fact that he had to compensate by not bore sighting to the center of the grid should tell you that you need to shoot your gun to sight it in.
