What is the proper technique to sighting in a muzzleloader? I am shooting 150 grains on a thompson center black diamond? Would it be 2 inches high at 50 yards? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to everyone on Saturday should be perfect.

It all depends on what distance you want it at absolute zero? I like my MZ to be 1" high at 100 yards myself.

Mine was actually a little low at 50 and dead on at 100... (The bullet was rising between 50 and 100).. I also like to keep mine 1 inch high at 100... I shoot 2 pellets of pyrodex with a 250 grain bullet.. I was 8 inches low at 150 yards...

Around here I keep mine on dead zero at 50 yds. About all I need.

I like to sight in at 50 yards. 1" high at 50 yards. I hunt hardwoods mostly...75-100 yards about as far a shot as I'll get.

Bullets don't rise. Your scope is above the muzzle is why you hit low at 50.

Lots of in and outs and variables but I suggest you end with 2" high at 100. That will allow you to ain dead center from 20-150 yards and still be in the kill zone. Sightin mzls can be a real pain.

Go to maxmuzzeloader.com......This guy is an expert on Thompsons and others......His CD is killer....He has done all the tests and can tell you exactly what to shoot......I can tell you straight up owning a Thompson......Get the trigger kit and redo the trigger if its not adjustable......Shoot 90 - 110 grains of triple 7 powder or Black horn 209 .....and shoot 250 grain Thompson shockwaves or a Hornady 250 sabot.......Beleive me, I have also done the tests, this will get you the best results and be deadly.......Throw away the other pellets and powder......His video will tell you the same......Your just blowin powder out the barrel with 150 grains and brusin your shoulder tryin to sight that thing in......If you want consistency and accuracy follow the above and definitely check out this site....Goodluck
