Your own urine in a scraped out, down to the dirt area under an over-hanging limb in a good terraine feature

I think one of the biggest areas to pay attention to is the over hanging branch. I got into mock scrapes several years ago and have found the licking branch to be the key factor. I don't know if it is just me or what, but I have seen most scrapes under beech trees. I try to put all of my mock scrapes under these trees.

I see the majority of the scrapes in my area under an overhanging Cedar tree limb. Probably around 4 feet above the ground.

It depends on what you want to hunt. Your own whiz will get deer visiting. I would do only this if I was hunting doe. But I like to put some dominant buck pee in if I'm trying to hunt a trophy.

It helps to "work" that overhanging branch. I wear exam gloves and bend and break the branch in several places. Then I take blade on my little folding saw and scrape the dickes on of the last few inches of the branch so it looks chewed. I do not put anything on the branch.

Location and selection of the right spot for a scrape is, imo, the most important part of making a mock scrape.
