Ok guys and gals, lets hear it. With this absolutely wonderful weather predicted for our opening ML season this year, where will you be and what's your setup look like for Sat?

I have two stands possible to hunt with the NW wind that is predicted, one halfway up a hardwood ridge that parallels a pine thicket that I've seen lots of rut activity over the years with does leading bucks thru, the other is a hardwood area on the backside of part of the same pine thicket, but lower and within sight of the bottom draw that leads around the high area of our sanctuary. Both have produced major sightings of mature big bucks over the years, so I may have to flip a coin over those two! Good luck everybody! ;\)

A North west wind will be good for my favorite stand in a saddle on our highest ridge but I may give it up to my grandson , Lord willing . I have scouted a couple of different set ups for my climber if I don't hunt my favorite stand which one would be great for a NW wind and the other would do but a North wind would be ideal . Hope every one gets a chance at what they are after and please be safe !! ;\)

Just out of curiosity, what processor will you be at BGG? I can't think of any at my end (SW) of Hickman Co.

Depending on what that wind is doin when I come out of the house about 530 Saturday mornin, I'll walk to one of a handful of locations and set myself up. Most likely I'll hunt my laadder stand overlooking a field with a pear tree in the middle.

O.K. - that's on the other end of the county from me in Bon Aqua (I'm in the Pleasantville area just a few miles from the Perry Co. line). It doesn't matter to me since I process my own, but I don't know of any processors in the western part of the county. Hohenwald in Lewis Co. has the closest processor I know about.

Winchester, I know they used to process beef as well but I don't know if they do anymore. Don't quote me on this, but I think for a time they were only seasonal, and basically just open during deer season.

I don't know yet and won't know until opening morning. All the hunters on my place stand around a map just before heading out and make their stand choices. No one wants to choose first (the person choosing last usually has the best luck) so it can take some time!

Hunter 1: "So where are you going to hunt?"

Hunter 2: "I don't know. Where are you going to hunt?"

Hunter 1: "I asked you first."

Hunter 2: "But I don't want to choose first."

Hunter 1: "You have to choose first because i asked you first."

Hunter 2: "Well, technically, I asked first because last night I asked you where you were going to hunt in the morning."

Hunter 1: "Last night doesn't count."

Hunter 2: "Says who...?"

Oh, I'm strategic, but some of the others aren't. And no one wants to choose first (because whoever chooses first generally has the least success).

Wont know until I wake up Saturday morning. Even then, if I head to one of my lock-ons, I will also be carrying my climber "if things change" by the time I get out there. No matter where it will be, it will definately be in terrain features

Where a hardwood flat runs into a blow down thicket that acts like a ramp to and fro several fields. The blow down thicket is between the main bedding area. I'm nervous. Could be a good day.

In a thicket where no one else will be, except for (hopefully)
some older buck. The shaded edge of the thicket with the right
wind direction is my hope.

When the younguns start to chase, maybe the old one will edge
out to the shadows of the thicket to observe the entertainment
too.

Alexis and I will be on the side of a small ridge just out the road from the house.

She got to hunt all of archery season...so maybe she will feel sorry for dad and let me shoot one with the mz, of course after she does! \:D

She did let me shoot one last year on opening day.

I will be at LBL with my BOW and arrows. I don't have private land to hunt (have had land but not leasing or looking now)and I am tagged-out at Ft Campbell. So LBL it is.
Good hunting/luck everyone!!!

Looks like on the top edge of a bowl looking north NE into several hardwood fingers with a thick 3 yr old clearcut with new planted pines on my back side.

All day hunt, lunch in my pack then moving eastward towards a ceder & oak top for the late afternoon.

Subject to change depending on conditions...

O and I should mention the clearcut goes for miles all around pretty much (old paper property) with my springs, & mature hardwoods dropping acorns, & evergreens in the middle. \:\)

I'll be taking my bow to LBL, too. Got a honey-hole in unit 16 that I haven't been able to hunt yet this year. Saved some vacation time so I'll be up a tree instead of working for at least4-5 days. Man, I'm getting so excited with the weather, the bucks starting to get all rutty, and 5 days at my favorite stomping ground!

I don't really know.

Opening morning, I'll be set up in some hardwoods that has a field beside it.

Mid-morning, Proably a clear cut or old log road.

Evening, Either back in the hard woods, Or by a field and two ponds.
