How many of you think camo is effective or necessary?
Over the last few years I have begun to think it is just another marketing ploy.
As my camo wears out I will replace it with more traditional hunting clothes in neutral colors.

i know alot of older guys that kill some big deer sitting on the ground hunting in "farmer" clothes if you will. I wear it but it is definitely over hyped IMO. if you are sitting in a tree with NO COVER i dont care what you have on, chances are you are busted.
now turkey hunting is a different story.

For those of us who hunt relatively open areas. How high is high enough in a climber?

You can be dressed like a clown if you sit still.

I disagree that camo is overrated. Camo is not for the times when you are still and deer don't see you, it's for the times when the deer does see you and has to decide what you are.

Necessary, no. Effective, yes. At least to an extent. IMO

If you gun hunt, especially centerfire, not necessary. But, the closer you get to the deer and the more removed you get from shooting houses and ground blinds, the more important role camo plays.
So, depending on your style and methods of hunting, more or less important.
