I love college football, am a TN fan, but the fact that 18 and 19 year old boys have an affect on how I percieve my day to have gone does not sit well with me. I love to watch and follow most teams pretty well, but I hunt when I can. I sit and have a few coldies and watch the games on days when I am successful hunting or the weather is bad. Hunting is my #1...

For those true devoted fans, this question is very easy to answer. For those casual fans, it is easy to answer as well.

Whichever you are, answering it either way would not make any sense to you.....

Championships are rare and last a lifetime, Hunting seasons come and go....

GO STEELERS!!!!

The difference to me would be if I were going to the games or watching it on TV. If I was close enough to be going to all the home games I would give up weekends of hunting to watch a national championship team play. But just to watch it on TV. Nope. War Eagle!

Oh and by the way Alabama may have 2 national champions this year. Jacksonville State is ranked 3rd in 1aa. Go Gamecocks!!

Just enjoy the heck out of both. Last year, 2009, my son's football team went 15-0 and won his division championship, I killed my biggest buck ever and I got to go watch my team win the National Championship in the Rose Bowl. How could I ever top that, life is good! I think the National Championship may be played in the Iron Bowl this year, would that not be crazy.

I think you hit the nail on the head BH. Championships ARE rare and they do VERY MUCH last a lifetime. I also understand that when in the woods there is always the possibiility of that once in a lifetime buck coming by.

It may also have a lot to do with the fact that I have been an Auburn fan for more than 20 years (never actually getting a chance to see a national title yet), but I have really only been a true hunter for 3 years. This season there is a very real chance at a championship...it makes it more tangible to me. If we were 5-3 right now and not in the top 25 instead of 8-0 and #1 in the BCS...I would likely have a very different feeling about the whole situation.

I really look at it this way, and I'm not downing anyone's take on it, but I'm not getting any younger, and being able to get up and out into the woods is a passion that I love, and one of these days I may not be able to get out there so easily, or at all. When those days arrive, then I can stay home and watch the games. Just my 2cents and how I personally feel I guess.

I am almost afraid to pose this question here for fear of getting bashed on my stance haha...but I was just having the conversation with a friend of mine the other day, and we have differing views, so I thought I would throw it out there for a nice friendly debate...forgive me if this has been brought up before.

I am an Auburn man all the way through. Currently, if you follow college football at all, you would know that Auburn is atop the BCS poll this week...and basically if they win out, they are going to be playing for a national title (it would be only their second...should be their third, but dont get me started on the '04 season).

I told my friend that I would give up a season of hunting for Auburn to win a national title. He laughed at me haha.

What are your thoughts on this topic? Now to clarify, I am not saying that I have sacrificed any hunting this particular season to watch a game...though I have seen every televised game this year. I am just saying that if I had to strike a deal...and the deal included me giving up a season of hunting with a guaranteed national title for Auburn, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Sorry Kevin, but I think you're on DOPE!!!!
