I have two passions in life outside of Jesus/family/church...those are hunting/fishing and college football.
I am almost afraid to pose this question here for fear of getting bashed on my stance haha...but I was just having the conversation with a friend of mine the other day, and we have differing views, so I thought I would throw it out there for a nice friendly debate...forgive me if this has been brought up before.
I am an Auburn man all the way through. Currently, if you follow college football at all, you would know that Auburn is atop the BCS poll this week...and basically if they win out, they are going to be playing for a national title (it would be only their second...should be their third, but dont get me started on the '04 season).
I told my friend that I would give up a season of hunting for Auburn to win a national title. He laughed at me haha.
What are your thoughts on this topic? Now to clarify, I am not saying that I have sacrificed any hunting this particular season to watch a game...though I have seen every televised game this year. I am just saying that if I had to strike a deal...and the deal included me giving up a season of hunting with a guaranteed national title for Auburn, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I love college football as much as the next man. I'm a UT fan and as you know there's not much going on for the Vols. But even in their best years, I wouldn't trade time in the stand for a football game.

That's crazy! You are not an active participant in football just merely an observer. When you hunt you are really doing something.

I am as passionate a college football fan as anyone I know. I am on the other side of the fence from you and support the crimson tide however. With that said, I was out of town hunting last week, and on Saturday afternoon I choose to stay at the cabin and watch the AU/LSU rather then sit in a deer stand. I am not even a fan of those 2 teams but couldn't stand the idea of not watching every snap. During football season I hunt in the mornings on Saturdays, take a brief nap and watch football from 12:21 until midnight or so.
I would not give up an entire season for my team to win a NC, but I will miss portions of days to watch every game I possibly can.

LOL football is football not trading off on a season not even to win one game.

Kevin - you being an Auburn man, then you have seen first hand that my dilemma is not as tough as yours.
I am an Arkansas State fan, and I travelled down to the plains in september for our game there.
Lucky for me, we can't get it together so I usually end up in the woods with ESPN scorecast keeping me up to date.

I love football, but I am a "I'd rather do something myself than watch someone else do something" person. There is no way I would trade doing something I love myself for watching someone else do something.
