peanut butter. they will eat the bark off the tree. It might be baiting so I would not use it now. I allways put it out before season. And grape kool aid. Mix you some up and dump it on the ground. they will dig to China

My brother dumped some of this acorn extract syrup stuff on the ground and I watched a group of four bucks walk by and sniff it. One of them started licking the stick it was on.
It's a curiosity thing like someone said. I threw a dip pouch on the ground one time on accident and watched a doe and yearling sniff it.

Basically anything foreign can work as a curiousity smell in the woods, as long the deer doesnt feel threatened by it. I have used many different scents in the woods and drew deer in to them... but getting the same deer to come back to the scent over and over is another story.
If you want something cool to try... go buy some of the car air fresheners you hang from your mirrow. I just played with a Macintosh Apple one from Yankee Candle... the deer I think were disappointed the big red things wasnt on the ground under it... hahaha

Ive seen vanilla work,or at least draw em in,but they dont stay long, and usually it wont work twice on the same place, once they know there is no food to go with the smell.Tricky part is to figure a Way to place it where they smell the vanilla,.......................and not smell you.

We used Vanilla Killa from Dan Fitzgerald for years...I have had bucks follow me right to my stand when I put it on my boots...however, they were smaller younger bucks. I only use it bow hunting and I agree with the above posts in that it is probably a scent to stop a buck where you want it to stop out of curiosity...rather than draw a buck to you. I'm talking mature buck, not the youngsters...that's an important distinction
