Quite possibly, since the moon has a magnetic pull or force, and since all animal bodies contain such a high percentage of water affected magnetically (people, deer, etc.), maybe a full moon has more of this "pull" on those bodies taking some kind of toll on nocturnal creatures requiring them to seek more daytime rest or seclusion???????

But when I am asked about moon affect on deer movement, my sincere answer is that hunting a RISING moon seems to be more of a positive than phase.
That's one of the things I need to look at--hunting mornings/evenings when the moon is rising or setting.

I personally like a moon that either rises early, well before dark, or one that sets late, well after daylight! This seems to either get them up and moving early or make them stay a little later in the morn.

Yes, i concur , i went thur morn and had deer all over me the entire time i was in the woods including spooking two as i entered. One doe fed behind my stand for 1 hour and 10 minutes just out of range at one point and then the last 60 minutes about 55 yards distance and she was vacumning the acorns down. then i went to my truck to leave and i was parked way out at the dirt road and on the entrance side of the gate and low and behold a doe was feeding within 15 yards of my parked truck.....no spooking at the chain saw gas or the oil or the human odors in and on the truck....... there goes other theorys as well...........hmmm?

So what your saying is hunts when the moon is up are better than hunts when the moon is down? I'll have to run the numbers on that.

I dont know who told me that but a few years back I heard it. Ever since I have paid some attention to it and seems to hold true.
One thing is for sure. The more acorns there are the less deer I see. I don't care if it's a full moon, half moon, rising, setting..etc. This does bode well for late season hunts for me though.

I was up at Laurel Hill this weekend and the deer were moving in the AM the best, but that was the does (I didn't see any of them) and small bucks (saw a few of them). The big buck sightings were in the mid day to early afternoon, although some guy missed a big one Friday Morning about 6:45 am. Evenings were the slowest for me, but others saw deer, so i do not know if you can say there is a rule of thumb. Looks like it just depends on where you are sitting.
