I'd say that you are right on. Too many other food choices right now and the deer's travel patterns aren't taking them through the area. That could change at any point in the season though. Definitely keep checking 'em.

LOL,...I hung my loc in a persimmon tree last year after the season for this year...I climbed into on opening morning only to find about 3 inches of possum and coon crap on the base and seat!!
The deer don't always hit the pesimmons hard where I hunt...

I watched a doe, with ears pinned back, guarding a persimmon tree from a spike last week. One time on a charge, she bout bit a plug out of his arse
guess my persimmons taste better

Always got excited about persimmons when I found trees but never had any luck concentrating on them. I don't think deer go out of their way for em. But everything else seems to from coyotes to coons to bear to possums.
