Some of you may have read my story from this weekend (hit a very nice 8 in the shoulder, broke off broadhead with only about 1.5" of penetration.
Well I bought a 3 pack of rage 2 blades today and when I got home I threw them on 3 of my arrows. Started shooting at a deer target that I have and when aiming mid lung I kept shooting about 4 inches to the left and 2 inches high (right in the shoulder! (this should have been my DUH moment)
I was thinking I would have to adjust sights, but I went ahead and loaded up my old 3 arrows (same ones I fired Sunday) and they hit in the same grouping. This is very weird because I had just fired this bow Sunday morning to verify grouping and in 2 years it has never needed adjustment.
Then it hit me... while carrying in the ladder stand on my back I dropped my bow from about 4 feet up, and it hit right on its side directly on the ground. I inspected it and nothing appeared to have moved so I went on about my business and set up the stand.
So I grabbed the wrench and moved it 1 click over.... BAM.
Bulls-eyes again. Don't assume your equipment is ok!
I lost a very nice 115 class 8 point Sunday because of this!!!

It didn't really seem like a big drop, and I sure did tighten the crap out of those set screws.
I'm literally sick at my stomach, but at least I know I don't just suck at shooting.

Glad you found that problem, but do you think your penetration is sufficient? 1.5 inches of penetration regardless of where you hit, could very well equal another problem somewhere? Just askin?

No I don't think it is sufficient, though I have had complete pass throughs with the bow before.
The main thing I had was a cheap, not very sharp triple blade expandable broadhead that had no chance of penetrating through the shoulder.

I think you'll like the rage 2 blades. They haven't failed ME yet.

Well when it comes to broadheads you have to practice with what you hunt with.... On two occasions in the 30 yrs I have been shooting a bow, I took the words of others that the broadheads shoot just like field tips... Both times I was using different Rocket Broadheads and both time they weren't hitting just like field tips.... The problem with most Rocket broadheads is you can't practice with them without tearing them up.... I now use Rage Broadheads because not only can you practice with them, the practice heads fly the same.... Lesson learned after hitting a deer a little back with my new bow and found the problem after the fact....

I think the rocket broadheads do a little false advertising they don't fly like a field point. learned that lesson the hard way this year
