Our sightings have declined, especially early morning sightings. I am still seeing numerous deer, mostly does, in the afternoons in ag fields (last 30 min). One other interesting thing myself and several others have noticed is deer moving between 10-12 while we were coming out of the woods and/or driving back to camp. Daylight buck sightings are virtually nil with most pics of mature bucks at night.

No bucks. Does in the afternoon. Acorns are falling but deer not eating them much. Mornings are futile right now.

My season in Madison county has been fantastic so far.

Had 3 does under my stand on Saturday when I got there. 2 bucks came out about 530 just slightly out of range.

Went back sunday, put up a new stand, same two bucks came out at 530. Put an arrow in the first one, then jumped 2 different ones while tracking him and one standing near my truck when I got back.

Missed a doe Saturday morning at 830. Shot at the biggest of the 3 that came in front of my climber. Hunted Saturday afternoon and didn't see anything until I came out of the woods and saw 8 deer bolt across the field at dusk. Acorns every where and for the most part they are staying out of the bean fields (I have beans in my front yard!).

My scanner has been going crazy with Deer vs Auto accidents for about a week now. That is usally a sign that some chasing and pre rut activity is going on.I am getting less pictures on my cam and they are different deer. There is definitely change in the air.

No trail camera here. But, seeing more in the a.m. going to and from bedding areas. Alot of acorns (not white oaks) on the ground but not really hitting them.

Good luck

Haven't seen that many. Seen a big decline in the past two weeks! Mostly bucks moving at 6 am where there is hardly any light. And a few after dark on cam. starting to see more does move in too. and nothing hitting the acorns..but there are crop fields within 70 yrds of me on three sides.

I hunt in NE Carroll County... Have seen a record number of deer this October. All surrounding Ag fields have been cleared and I have 130 acres of mature hard woods. I saw 18 deer (16 doe / 2 buck) in a two hour sit last week. Yesterday evening I saw 11 deer (10 doe / 1 buck) from 5pm until dark. Ironically, the deer are focusing on a type of red oak! My white and post oaks are poaring acorns, but the deer are hammering the red oak variety. I'll take pic this week for ID.

Now the catch. We only shot 3 year old bucks. We have a few (5)on camera, but none are moving in daylight. Also, there is no chasing or scrape line markings. Only a few rub posts. I believe the next moon cycle will turn my farm inside out!

Bow malfunction cost me a buck earlier this week. peep site cord popped off at exactly the same time I hit the release. Talk about a deer jumping the 'string'. Missed a turkey by 'this much'.
TRAIL cam pics are from 5:30pmISH TO 6AMISH, WITH MOST ACTIVITY AROUND THE BEWITCHING HOUR OF midnight. sigh.

Been watching the young bucks dog a doe or two. Bucks still hanging in twos and threes up until this past weekend. Then I only saw one at a time, each alone.

My 'moneytreestand' which is sit up on a wonderful white oak has been the most disappointing stand of all. Big ole white acorns all over the ground, deer aren't interested in them this year.
But they are hitting the smaller red oak acorns.

What is UP With That? hmm

Crops have all been harvested, food plots bone dead dry. Poor deer gonna starve if not for that monster grain pile at Como Gin Co.

I'm seeing does in the mornings, moving up til about 10:30 or so, and then again about 5:30ish on. Bucks...not seeing them, which means they must be nocturnal right now.
Acorns are falling, deer are hitting 'some' trees for them. See Pursuit Hunters site for the 'dominate tree' phenomenon. There's still a lot for them to eat without them traveling too far from their bedding areas so I'm not seeing them move as much.
That's all about to change in a couple of weeks though...
