I shot a nice buck yesterday evening around 6 PM. The shot was broadside 15 yards. When I released arrow. Buck jumped back and I hit him in the neck about a foot down from the head. The deer ran into a cut cornfield about 100 yards out in the middle paused for about five seconds and ran into the woods on the otherside. The arrow was still in him I could see the broadhead stuck out the side when he intered woods. Called a buddy to help me look.
We stayed in the woods till after 11 last night looking. Nothing no blood after the initial hit. Does anyone think this buck lived? I didnt sleep all night.....

I had a doe spin on me last year and I hit her in the neck, it ended up being fatal, but it took me two hours to find her with no blood trail. I just kept making bigger circles from the last place I saw her and luckily found her. One difference with my doe was she had that "death run" when I hit her, she was running like a mad man out of there once my arrow hit. The fact that your deer "paused" is of concern to me. I would suggest several more hours of searching if you can manage it. Good luck, I hope you recover him.

Was it on the bottom side of his neck or top.If it was the bottom you may have clipped his wind pipe. If it was the top part I would say he just has a sore neck right now.I would look in the thickest junk you can find where he went into the woods.
Good luck.

Top part of neck.
The visual of the deer standing in the middle of a huge corn field with my arrow sticking out of both sides of his neck was strange.

A few years ago I saw a buck feeding acting normal with an arrow thru his neck. It did not seem to bother him.

Man I shot a 130 class 9 pt at fifteen yards last year in the neck maybe an inch below his windpipe and arrown only penitrated six inches maybe. Long story short took two days off work looking for this deer, only to see him up and about two weeks later during muzzleloader, but he came by me like his butt was on fire paused for a min but no shot. to this day i have no clue wut stopped my arrow. I was and am still shooting a matthews swithcback dxt at 63 lbs with rage broadheads. but i hope you found him.

Last year I shot a doe at 15 yards broadside. It was a high shot right above where the lung should be, but apparently below the spine.

Anyways, the arrow buried to the fletchings with the broadhead stick 2 feet out the other side.

She stopped for a minute and looked back at me like I was stupid, and I watched her run almost a mile across this very large field like nothing was wrong.

no blood. no deer. sick feeling for sure.
