I've never shot a doe when she had a spotted fawn with her. Just the thought of that little guy/gal sitting there while I'm gutting their momma doesn't suit me, but if I'm ever gonna kill a doe with my bow I may have to start shooting does with spotted fawns because they all seem to have them. Do you guys shoot does with spotted fawns? Does the fawn run off?

We rarely have spotted fawns by October in my area.

I gave a big doe a pass Saturday evening because she had two fawns with spots with her. She must have dropped them late they were covered up in bright white spots. Never seen one with spots this late.

If you don't mind the thought of the orphaned spotted fawns starving to death, then go ahead.

Fawn drop here in south MS is so late that the season is actually closed until mid Oct, although bow season opens OCT 1.

Once they are old enough to have lost their spots, they will probably be just fine as orphans, especially if the doe family groups have already bunched back up.
