Anybody have any luck hunting from the ground with a bow? I'm thinking about sitting on a small ledge above a creek crossing, it's almost like being in a treestand, I'm still up above their line of sight. What ya think?

I tried it a couple of times this year and did get to draw on a little buck except he didn't give a good shot.
Make sure the wind is in your favor and BE STILL!
I plan on doing more ground bow hunting when all the leaves have fallen. By that time I can get more concealed on the ground than up in a barren tree.

Ground hunting is great with some adjustments from stand hunting tactics.

Its awesome, but its all about having the right blind with enough room for comfort and to make sure you brush it in really well.

Hunted from the ground this afternoon...only complaint is I hate having to be super still on the ground without a blind.

Have two does from the ground. 1 was a stalk...most fun hunt of my life. The other occured just seconds after I climbed out of my treestand LOL. Working on more ground hunting.

I hunt from the ground very often, as the set-up is much quieter (and faster) than a climber for walk-in hunts. The worst part is that it's often less comfortable, especially if you don't have a good back stop, or there is a slope.
As far as archery hunting goes, I've drawn my compound a few times on does 2 years ago that got within 20 yards, but I never had a clear shot. I've since decided to use a crossbow to get my first kill under my belt.
You can get a roll-up camo net attached to 4 folding stakes for about $20 at Cabela's or Bass Pro (forgot which) that works awesome as a quickie ground blind setup. It weighs ounces, and is a great base material to work from (I'd recommend using branches/grass/etc in combination with it to add realism). Buy a lightweight padded seat with a shoulder strap, and you can be on your way to a very flexible ground blind setup for about 1-2 pounds of added weight.
I've probably killed about 2/3 of my deer hunting from the ground. I find it more immersive and exciting than sitting up in a tree. Good luck!

I would also recommend getting a leafy suit. Find a good tree where you can brush in and stand up while shooting.
