To shoot, or not to shoot, that is the question

Okay, so having never killed a buck, here is my dilemma:
I know there are 3 bucks working my small property (right now), a spike, a young 6, and a massive stud of a 10 point huge rack, easily 150 from comparing some of the "age/score" posts. Now, I saw the spike and the 6 when I was up there the opening week of archery and passed on both in hopes of seeing the stud. Took a doe, my first kill ever, for some meat and went back to Fla (not home, I was at home in the hills). I'm going back Nov 11 through as late as the 23rd, if need be. Now, do I take the shot on one of the younger bucks if the shot presents itself, or do I go back south with an unfilled buck tag? Obviously, I want something impressive on the wall and some more venison, but if I wouldn't mount it, do I shoot it? I'm not a TV personality or a professional hunter, nor do I plan to be one, so personally, the doe was a trophy to me. I know it's the "personal preference, you be the judge" stuff, but knowing I have eternal access to this small, unpressured piece of property, what would YOU do? shoot, or wait till next year?

Do what makes you happy. If you don't get excited over a deer in range, then absolutely don't shoot.
Me personally, I'd pass on the spike, take the 6, and the stud would be a bonus IF he shows again.

I personally would never shoot a young buck. But YOU need to do what makes YOU happy.

Shoot them if you want. Every hunter is different. We aren't all looking for the same thing. Look at the kill thread, there is a wide range of personal satisfaction. But, you will never kill a big one if you shoot all of the little ones.

WELL, take your time, maybe pass on the smaller ones for a bit, if it gets 3 or 4 days left...blast whatever you want

I agree that you should shoot what make you happy or excited. Don't get caught up in the feeling that you need to kill a lot of deer to establish yourself as a hunter. Also, don't feel limited to the possibility of only having a chance at those three bucks. You never know what's out there.

In your shoes I wouldn't be worried about passing on deer. There are so many things to learn about deer and deer hunting that have nothing to do with passing on small bucks.
I learned more about deer, especially bucks, when I started passing on small bucks.

Just starting out I would at least take the 6. There are so many varioubles in any scenario. Just because you see the 10 doesn't make an automatic kill. Will you be bow hunting then too?
