I have seen two bucks this year that were 3 1/2 yrs old last year. Both bucks appear to have added very little, if any, size to their antlers. This property is in Ky with around a thousand acres of beans and corn. I know they have plenty of food. Of the seven years I have hunted this property, this is the first year that I have seen bucks that appear to not grow at all. My question is, with all the water holes dried up, can the lack of antler growth be caused by the lack of water? I know deer get most water from their food, but it seems that every plant is very dry as well.

Probably just the variability of Nature. Some bucks add a lot of antler from year to year and some don't.

Most of the antler growth was during average to above average rain fall.April- Aug.Yes its very dry now but not when the antlers were doing most of their growth.

Rainfall has been below average since june here. That is why I asked the question. It's just the first time I've noticed this on older bucks.

Most of what drives antler growth occurs in winter and early spring. By mid-June, it's too late for environmental factors to effect antler growth.
