What would yall think about putting out some doe pee. Would it be to early still yet, or would it be worth a shot to hang around a scrape? Don't waste your money on that doe pee. Just use your own. Seriously.

It smells like pee to everything that does pee. I've peed in them for years. Had a whole family of coons come through and pee right behind me in the scrape. Had deer walk under my stand many times and walk through where I just peed. Pee is pee is pee. Of course if you have the money you don't need I'm sure the commercial companies would love to have it. I hope you have a great season.

The rut is influenced in some part by the moon and it's phases as has been shown in different studies. One book that I have referenced for several years shows that this year the rut will be about as early as it can possibly be, with prime chasing period from Oct. 19 - 28 and prime breeding window from Oct. 29 through Nov. 8. This is because the first full moon after the Autumnal equinox (beginning of fall) occured the next night making that one the harvest moon (I believe?) and the next full moon the rut moon. I know that is arguable. I'm just stating what the Alshimer study predicted for 2010. With that said, a buddy of mine killed a pretty nice 8 pointer last weekend, the first weekend of October. He had a witness and they both said the buck chased a doe all over the woods. His buddy killed the doe and watched it fall. He said he buck ran up to her and stood over her. He launched a long shot and hit the buck in the brisket. It then proceeded over to my buddy who made a lethal shot. They said it had the full blown swelled neck!

For the last 3 years(including this year) I'm seeing more scrapes this early than I am rubs. Dunno why? Could it be that the EHD outbreak helped with herd dyanmics?
Not herd dynamics but certainly herd health. In any given location, the lower the deer density, the higher the individual deer health. The healthier the deer, the more they rub and scrape.
