What im finding is about 1 1/2 quarts a day per 100 lbs of body weight in winter months, and as much as twice that in hot Summer months. And ofcourse this is just an average. This sounds much more reasonable to me however..

There are considerable numbers of deer tracks in the mud on the edge of a pond where I hunt. It's the only spot on the bank that a deer could reasonably access. Although, I've not actually seen a deer drinking there. Can't think of any other reason they would be going out of their way to stand at the water's edge and then turn around and go back into the woods. I would think it would be a great spot to set up.
