I never said or insinuated you or anyone else was any of those things. If you took it that way, that is your own interpretation.
You accused me of equating my circumstances with those of others.
Pursue something else, Pursuit Hunter.
The point I was making is that very, very few people really NEED an ATV. If you are crippled or aged you DO need one and that's fine. I may need one myself someday. If you are obese or weak you do NOT need one for it only perpetuates those conditions.

I always wonder about the gas, smoke exhaust smells.
I park mine about 300 yards from any stands. But still, even with all your best scent control measures you've done before the hunt, you contaminate yourself by getting on that machine and starting it up.
I remember some folks used to have those "Treestand Buddy" things that let you clip your onto the back of your ATV right over the tailpipe. I just had to wonder. Always wanted to ask someone that used them things.

This yr I bought me a great big piece of camo burlap. In Sept. I ran a cloths line around 4 trees, clamped my burlap to it and made a square fort with slide open burlap doors to park the wheeler in. I hope deer get used to seeing it in the woods and won't spook from it. It is about 100yrd from the stand. So far, used it once and saw 6, 4 of the 6 disappeared heading that way..

Other than cripples, the obese,very aged, and weaklings who really needs a four-wheeler?
It seems you did imply that if you are healthy you don't need a four wheeler. Not trying to start anything but when you make comments like that you should be ready for a little backlash.

I would say that a majority of hard core deer hunters use a atv or utv. If you come to one of my leases and don't bring one better bring your new balance. to the back of 1800 acres will get your blood pumping. with that being said a try to park at least 100 yds from the stand

Used one for years SP. Never had a problem killing deer when taking it into the woods. Any smell will not go upwind no matter how bad it smells. I've taken some pretty nice bucks using mine.

I usually don't crank mine up until I get to where I am going to park. But I sure get sweaty pushing it over logs.

I've never used a ATV for hunting before. They are fun tio ride recreationally when the opportunity presents itself and they are also quite useful and practical for farm work. If I owned my own hunting property, I would consider using a ATV for (partial) retrieval purposes, though I would not consider buying a ATV solely for this purpose.
Overall, ATVs just don't fot my style. I have used a mtn. bike for long access on certain occasions. I will say this, if you are the type of hunter that simply can't go hunting without your ATV, then see Longhunter's post. If you're not too old and/or handicapped, well then you may just very well be too fat. I hear walking is good exercise.
A nt'l forrest I hunt in MS banned ATVs 2 or3 years ago except for retrieval purposes only and then limited to established roads. Man, you should have seen the backlash. Folks couldn't conceive how you might expect a man to go hunting without a ATV. Its as as if they had banned hunting altogether.
Just this morning, coming back from my morning hunt (1.2 mile walk each way, mind you) I took notice of the amount of ATVs loaded on trailers I saw on the highways. That's a lot of trouble to go to every time you want to go hunting. I sometimes feel ridiculous for having to make 2 trips to the truck (2 small duffle bags, plastic tote and a bow case) to go hunting.

I'm with you on this one reemus. My lease is 1200 acres and there is a county gravel road runnin all the way around the borders. If your hunting around that road you can get fairly close without them spookin, but if you hunting more towards the center of the property you have to park a lil farther back as there not as used to the sound and smell of vehicles. Hope this helps.
