I have had that happen to me a lot.

And some say hunting a corn field is the same as a pile of corn. $\:D$ Sorry couldn't resist.

The worse case was about 10 years ago when I kept seeing a big buck (120 class was real big back then :D) 3 days in a row on other end of field. Decided to make a setup on that end and it was in the 90s and hot getting set up. Went home took another shower and got hunting gear. Got settled in stand and within 30 minutes heard gun shots maybe 100 yards behind me in the woods on neighbors place. I was so mad couldn't see straight. Needless to say never saw that deer again.
