The soy bean field I have Ben hunting and seeing an incredible amount of deer in just got cut this week. The deer have been bedding down in a young tree thicket and crp that borders my soy bean fields. My question is...with the soybeans cut, do you think these deer will come feed on the cut beans or will they be squirrelly and come out of the tree line?
It's been my experience in the past that they will rarely come out into the field anymore when the beans are cut, but it's going to be hard to give up my spot since the wind is right today and I have seen 5-6 different bucks in 2 weeks. One nice 8 point.

I finished a been field this week. Then moved the combine back to shop. Then had wife carry me back up the hill to get truck and bean head. Well there were several deer already out in the middle of the field which was less than 30 minutes after I left. I have hunted cut bean fields and seen deer using the field all winter. I believe they will eat the dry leaves on the ground plus any growth from various plants that sprout.

I've had the same experience you have had, seen alot of good deer in bean fields until they were cut, then hardly anything, wish I could give you some advice but haven't figured it out myself.

Just Kidding. I've seen deer in cut fields all winter long before.

They also eat up the beans that get left on the ground after cutting, so it should be good for a while and I too have sene them on cut beans all winter.

Now would be a great time to seed some winter rye into the corners of the field.

I'm sure they will still feed in the field. They might go nocturnal to feed there though.
