It seems obvious that people have a wide range of observations with deer reactions to ATVs. My whitetail philosophy is to always be cautious as possible regardless of the inconvenience. While the deer on your individual property may very well have become conditioned to ATVs, this is certainly no foundation to speculate that all deer will react in a similar manner. And while you may have observed some deer not affected, you certainly don't know for a fact that other deer, possibly a mature buck(s) know all too well what the sound of ATV indicates, particularly coming in and out on consistent paths and parking underneath or close to your treestands.
IMHO, if you choose to go the ATV route, I would be extremely conservative with your proximity. Based on the differing observations and lack of definitive proof, suggesting that others take such a frivolous attitude with their ATVs in relation to whitetails seems to me to be, at best, poor advice for consistent success.

the biggest deer I ever had under my stand worked out like this.
me and little bro had a lease in Ky,,we were running trail cams every 6 days,,we hunted the first three days of bow season and didnt see squat,,walked all the way in over a mile all three days,,we were gettin a bunch of daytime pics before season opened,
I got this idea,,the trail cam pic pattern worked like this,,every day we checked it we put a new mollasses block out,and there would be picks for the first 3-4 days starting with the same day we checked the camera,,nearly all picks were about an hour before dark,,while we was checking the cams and puttin the blocks out at noon.
the next time we went,,I had little bro drive me to the stand and we messed around like we were changing cams and put a new block out,,I climbed the stand at 12:15 in 90 degree weather, and he rode off and hunted another stand,,by dark I had 3 P&Y bucks under me one that would go 150 and I just never had a shot.
so I guess it all depends on their perception of ATV`s

Well I made my home property off limits to ATV use during deer season if that tells you anything. Theres so many slob hunters riding their 4wheelers and rhinos through the woods here now it makes me sick. Running over trees, causing erosion, ruining places that were once hotspots to walk in to, hauling their corn in, etc, etc. They have just caused so many problems for me here lately.

Since I carry my son more times than not, I rarely use the tree stands on our lease we set up. Won't climb with my son. We use a ground blind and I pull my atv into the thicket as much as I can and block its view the best I can with the blind.
I know what time the deer are going to be at my spot. As long as I get thru there before that I'm fine and always see deer. I have run behind and spooked deer getting to my spot, but I would have spooked them on foot too.
To get to my spot with my bow, ground blind on my back, etc and deal with an 8 yr old, atv is the only way I'm going. If I had to walk all that way with my son (not leaving him out there alone)then walk back to the truck to get the atv, I believe I'd quit. LOL!

Well first evening using the ATV. This no joke when I walked up to the Atv this evening there were deer standing right by it. I spooked them they took off blowing at me not the Atv. I seen alot of deer from the stand also ,but the Atv was about 150 yards away.
