The ones that fall off are great just to snack on but no more than 3-4 for me.

I'd have said muscadines right off the bat, based on the size. I've never seen persimmons that small. I suppose something could be stunting them. I'm not accustomed to trying to eat one until after first frost, but you could check that ID simply by tearing one or two apart and seeing if they have the flat persimmon seeds that you're probably familiar with. Better test than the taste test, cuz if they're not totally and fully ripe, you'll be shaving your tongue with a knife the rest of the day trying to get it off

Persimmons are like silicone tits, deer can't help but put them in their mouths.

We have a bunch of those where I am hunting and for some reason I never see the deer eat them but they are usually all gone the next morning. I think we have ghosts.

They aren't simmons. they look much more like 'dines. I have seen 'dines look reddish but those on the ground are definitely dines and they are fantastic. best criiter in the woods. Makes great preserves and even better wine.

I'm am with Darton Man. I've got some wild plums on my place and they were loaded this year. Mine have long thorns, much like the branch in the upper part of the picture, and have pretty well dried up on the ground with none left on the branches. Baxter's picture of the fruit looks like mine a few weeks ago.
