I have learned that it is a whole lot better to hunt the wind then not. If the wind is changing all the time you could not hunt the wind even if you tried. but where I hunt there may be times that you can shoot a deer downwind but if I had to bet money on it the deer would blow out the second they were downstream of my scent.

mountains = swirling winds, bedding area anywhere, feeding area everywhere, deer coming from all directions.

Means the wind has no influence on my hunting patterns.
Sometimes I get busted, sometimes I don't. But hunting according to wind direction is Impossible at best in my neck of the woods.

Don't pay the big bucks for scent control. Buy Tide free unscented deodorent and use unscented soap, its cheap and it works. if you smell, the deer smell you, period. It is not a for sure thing but I promise you that it works. Old deer do not get old from being stupid. I learned this 5 years ago on this site and it has always worked for me.after I took this advice I started seeing alot more deer. I play the wind and I try to be scent free as possible. I think the more you put in the more you get out. Of course this is just my oppinion.

But being smelled does not guarantee the deer will run. It all depends on the intensity of the scent.

In addition, many of the scent-reduction products have proteins in them that either break up or bind with scent molecules to change their shape thus not trigger molecular scent receptors.
