I already knew this but it was reaffirmed yesterday for me. I jumped a group of does around 4 pm yesterday. they were feeding on some acorns in a 20 yard radius around my stand. I stayed and at 6:30 they were back and I got a chance to shoot. I missed but they never knew where I was and they didnt spook. they actually hung around for about 7 minutes before leaving but Never gave me another clear shot. If there is fresh sign and they travel there regularly, hunt the stand. But go crazy on scent control!

The biggest mistake hunters make is over-hunting their favorite stands.

The woods will change a lot through the season. Food sources and the rut will make deer change their routines. I'd say stay with what is working for now but try not to spook the deer or lay too much scent down.

I have shot many deer off the same stand year after year.I think a major part of the reason for continued sucess is I have several ways to approach the stand. I also try not to hunt it at the same times of day.

Really depends on what you want to kill. Its been my experience that each time you hunt a stand the odds of killing a mature deer from it greatly decreases. Good Luck

Exactly. Looking to kill any deer or a young buck? Have at hunting the same stand. Going after hunter-wary mature deer? Don't hunt the same stand.

That's not neccessarily correct

There are no absolutes when it comes to deer. In addition, there will always be stands that produce when the hunting pressure is on--stands that take avantage of deer escape routes.

However, after reviewing over two decades of hunter observations and harvests, THE #1 factor in hunter success on mature deer is past hunting pressure. The more pressure you put on a spot, the less likely you will be of seeing a mature deer. The odds of killing a mature buck from a particular stand drop DRAMATICALLY after the first time the stand has been hunted.

Depends on how you impact the area. If you can walk in and out without disturbing the area, IE- shedding scent and bumping deer then a maximum of every other week is a safe bet.

Steadfast rule that I seldom break: I hunt no stand more than once a week unless it is the rut. Durung the rut, I will sit on a well situated stand for consecutive days.
