On Chaney, we have a sign-in station located just inside the front door. members are required to sign in and out every day , unless they are staying overnight or for the weekend, etc.

During the BB dinner this year, there was a question brought up about stopping smoking inside the clubhouse. It was shotdown quickly by some of the smokers.

I don't have a dog in this fight because I never stay there overnight, BUT, I do have to come inside to sign in and out.

There are many other smells inside the cabin as well, so this may not matter at all......but when you walk inside and basically have to cut the smoke with a knife, it does weigh on the mind......somewhat.

just a simple question.......can anyone come up with a possible solution for those of us that try to be as scent free as possible....maybe move the sign in station outside on the porch or have a separate sheet outside for those of us that don't want to come inside after showering at home earlier.....

thanks for any suggestions.....

Its easy, put a sheet on the porch and you dont have to smell and get contaminated with that nasty shat! Thats ridiculous to even ask people to put up with that nastiness!

As a smoker, I certainly do not understand why the smokers would have a problem going outside to light up. Just because I do it does not mean everyone else wants to do it. I just do not understand that mentality.

How about a smokers' area?

Just put the sign-in sheet outside.

I agree with archeronthewall... I'm a smoker and wouldn't even consider smoking inside a place like that, especially when folks are trying to stay scent free. I realize that's not an answer to your question so I guess I'm just venting. I'd say put a sign in sheet outside... Or go all survivor style and pull people to the side and create some allies and re vote on the matter. Hahaha

I agree. Or you could have the smokers put up for an exhust fan and smoke eater. I smoke and am very careful not to share with those that choose not to.

Have all the smokers put 30 dollars in a hat and buy a 4X8 steel building to make the new sign in room.

Sign in sheet outside. Many clubs and WMAs do it every year. Another option would be to put a cork board outside and allow the hunters to post index cards with their names on them to indicate they are there hunting. We do this at our hunting club and it seems to work well.

How about sending every member a ballot on a no smoking in the cabin rule. Majority wins. Most of the lodges I have been in the last few years have all been smoke free with plenty of ash trays outside.

I can tell you that one of my friends who not only smokes but smokes on the stand is one of the most successful deer hunters i have ever known. I went with him three times and three times he killed a buck and he always smokes. cig smoke is not a detriment to hunting success!!!
I dont smoke and if i did i would continue on stand after witnessing the successes of those who do.

Hmm, why don't you ask them if it would be ok if you pi$$ed on them on their way out the door! What's the big deal, it will dry, right?

I hate when smokers think that they have the "right" to do what they want but non-smokers don't.
