just food for thought.....

Does deer hang in thick cover when it is hot more often than in open timber??

As I was in the stand this weekend, and sat being hot, I noticed the deer was hanging out in thick cover. They would come out in the acorn flat i was hunting but then would disappear in the cover after maybe 3-4 minutes. Sunday evening I had 8 deer come to my food plot, the only deer that came out in the grass was 2 fawns. The other deer stayed in the thicker cover. Do you think that flies has anything to do with this?? When the deer was in the thick cover they would constantly walk and never shook there head a lot. Everytime they would come out in the open immediatly they would start shaking their heads and after 3-4 minutes they would head back in. Like I said just food for thought. But I know if the thermocell is running I am hunting thick underbrush this year..... \:\)

They just like thick cover. I watched a Momma Doe sneak threw thick cover while her fawns played out in the open.

When pressured, deer spend most of their daylight hours in or near thick cover.

Thick cover can work all deer season long, but I really hunt it hard the last month of hunting season. I'm ALWAYS successful when hunting thick cover late season.
When the amount of daylight starts dropping over the next few weeks you'll see the deer start to move a lot more outside of the thick cover as they start trying to bulk up their fat stores for the cold weather.
