Friend sent me a picture of a doe he shot this morning. Nothing special about that but he also sent me a picture of her heart. It was cut almost completely in half by the broadhead. He said she ran over 200 yards and bled very little.

Heart shots take surprisingly longer than you might expect. I hear that 3d shoots give extra points for heart shots, but it reality, the deer will make it quite far due to the amount of blood already circulating. A double lung shot is much more efficient, since the lungs will fill with blood very quickly.

more efficient but some deer recover from lung shots. cant say i have ever witnessed a recovery from a severed aorta.

I shot a deer 2 years ago and hit it in the heart, it took a big chunk out of one side, it ran maybe 50 yards and it didn't bleed all that much. Not as much as you would think anyways. I'm a firm believer in... aim small-miss small. I always aim for the heart.
