Hunted yesterday in Scott County. Was very surprised to not find a ton of acorns on the ground. I did however find one tree that was dropping pretty well. My question is which type is this and is it one of the preferred ones. Have marked a good location nearby and am hoping it might be a good spot for next weekend.

may be a pin oak. hard to tell without a scale or a picture of the leaf. Appears to be pretty small unless the font on that paper is large.

It is about 5/8" tall and about the diameter of a quarter. I know white acorns are preferred by deer and red ones are not. Like I said this was really the only tree that had a good amount of acorns under it and was wondering if it would be good spot to set up at.

That is a red oak acorn.I'm not sure the exact kind of red oak. A white oak acorn will have a knurled looking cap versus a shingled one. Deer will still eat them, especially if there not too bitter. I usually will break off the cap, and touch my tongue to the nut. If its not real bitter, it may be a good spot to set up.
