First time user!
Do I need to open and start the thermacell prior to being in my tree Saturday morning?
Once I open a pad, will it be use less in a few hours, or can I use it again after a few minutes of testing? Does the pad have to go back into a sealed baggy?
If all these questions are stupid, tell me that too!
Help, I don't want to get skeeter'd up!

Turn it on whenever you want to. It doesn't take long before it starts to repel. A pad will last about four hours in my thermacell. Best investment I've made.

Put a pad in and hit the button to turn it on. It will ignite instantly after 2 or 3 pushes of the button and you check it through the little round clear window. The coil should be glowing orange/red. Let it sit for about 10 minutes or until you see it smoking then just turn it off and you're ready to go. You can keep both the cartridge and the pad in the Thermacell and start it when you get to where you want to use it again. Change the pads out after they fail to provide enough permethrin smoke.

Once you open it, the 4 hours of use is when the the thermacell is on. Not once the package is open. I pulled mine out earlier this summer that was still blue from last fall and fired it up and it will work just fine. And it actually will work about 5 hours.

I strap in on a flat surface facing up...usually the bottom of the stand or on the armrest.

I always put mine on the foot platform of my stand....making the repelent flow upward from my feet. Never had any problem out of one. All you gotta do is fire it up and sit it down and in about 5 min all the mosquitos that are buzzing you will be gone and won't return. Definately the best investment a hunter can make for early season.
