Someone told me that hunters use lye soap, because it is scentless...either that or it reduces scent. Is this true?

Dude, just wash your body with whatever gets you clean and don't worry about it. No matter what you do, if a deer is directly downwind you're busted - end of story.

Lye soap is made from ashes. The very best comes from a crematorium on the GA border but it is hard to find. I think that is where Dead Down Wind came from :).

To answer your question, no it isn't true.

There was a vendor at the Goat Days Festival in Millington that was selling different types of soap. She was also selling hand made lye soap for $1. They told me hunters use them...I didn't wear or carry anything that alluded to me being a hunter. They said that it reduces scent or something like that.

Anyways, I bought two bars of them. It was really inexpensive, and I figured it could'nt hurt. If nothing else, I don't have to buy soap at the grocery store anytime soon. \:D

Totally not true, there are several things you can do to help reduce your scent better than just washing with Bath and Body works and just saying oh well. You can use scent products and scent clothing, nothing is going to be 100% but its better than just saying oh well and wearing and smelling like a beauty parlor!

OK. Prove that it works. I can prove that you you don't need it.
