I also pack light in the bow season, but the grunt tube and binoculars always go with me.

For the early season I try to pack as light as possible. I enjoy doing an inventory several times of what I NEED vs all the gadgets. I am removing the grunt tube and bleat can until the rut. Anybody going to drop the calls for the early season?
i did the same last night, but looks like the tube is going back in

always keep my grunt call. I have had good success with calming spooked deer down with the call. Even had a doe I missed with the bow run off about 100 yards and stop. Started hitting the call and she seemed to calm down and started feeding back my way.

Yeah...my bleat and grunt go where I go. You never when when you might need to talk a little. Think about if you didn't have it and needed it...all for a few ounces.

use my grunt call when walking to the stand if I spook something and it starts blowing. usually calms them down.

I always have both... If nothing else it will usually stop a moving deer so you can get a shot
