Let 'er rip. Or hold it to freshen scrapes with on the walk out. The sound of pee hitting dry leaves is also a great attractant during the rut. I've "called in" numerous deer while peeing from the stand.

Due to the amount of protein we consume, it follows that human urine shares similarities in odor to that of other predators, which alone, could potentially spook deer at anytime. The amount of toxins and chemicals we consume, has the potential to complicate this matter. That being said, urine breaks down into ammonia relatively quickly, in which case it would likely be indistinguishable from other the urine of other animals.
At any given time, its going to be a roll of the dice. Yes, you may attract deer with the sound of urine hitting the ground. Yes, if the timing is right, it may be effective to freshen a scrape with urine. Or, a deer may detect the protein levels of a predator, pick up a unknown smell of last nights beer and this mornings coffee, and couple that with the slight piece of scent you left on a leaf during your approach, all of that data combined confirms your presence and the deer may be on a rocket ride to the next property, never to return.
Many of you are thinking of urine in isolation, where, it may not negatively effect your hunting, but combined with other human evidence: recently removed trees and limbs, scent from your boots and clothing, coffee on your breath, the sound of you zipping up your pants, etc... any combination of evidence could negatively impact your hunting, not to mention the fact that your urine all of a sudden shows up during hunting season. If you went around urinating on your treestands during the summer, deer may become accustomed to the smell and perceive it as non threatening.
Think about it: Hunted deer go all Spring and Summer with little human intrusion. Then, about the time the acorns start falling, humans start entering the woods and pissing around trees. Almost immediately, those humans start trying to kill you, mostly from the tree line. If pressured deer have made adjustments to tree stands by scanning the tree line for danger, what makes you think your high-protein, toxicity laced urine (dehydrated, yellow urine would only concentrate the protein and toxicity), steaming of the ground on a cold morning, doesn't give you away as well?
So, while you stand a chance of attracting the curiosity of a deer, you stand a chance of tipping the deer off. I understand that some of you hunt unpressured or less pressured deer, in which case, urinating may not have any negative effect on your hunting, however, the deer I hunt have been to a few rodeos and seem to know the routine all to well.
In closing, I leave you with one word: Discipline.

Poser,
I have no doubt deer can differentiate many things in urine. Their noses are easily good enough to do that. In fact, I remember seeing a study that showed deer reacted more negatively to the urine of coyotes that had been on a meat diet versus coyotes on a fruit diet.
That said, all I can go buy is years and years of research on deer and human urine. I have spent a great deal of time studying how deer react to human urine in scrapes. Not only does it NOT send them running, for some unknown reason, they find it very interesting. Having conducted many non-baited trail-cam surveys of hunting properties during the hunting season, the NUMBER 1 technique for catching the oldest bucks on camera is to create mock scrapes with human urine. Invariably I will get the oldest buck I'm going to photo-capture on human urine mock scrapes, and these very old bucks will come back time and again to these artificial scrapes (which only start as artificial--bucks quickly take them over and they become "real" scrapes). In fact, these mock human scrapes usually turn into some of the best and hottest tradition scrapes on the property over several years.
To date, I have never seen a negative reaction from deer to fresh human urine (and I mean fresh, as in just a few seconds old).
