Just been pondering this. I dont get busted for moving...that I know of. But I move a significant amount. Sitting to standing, turning, leaning forward to put my back in a different position etc. I just wondered what importance you put on movement in stand (especially with good cover). This time of year through first of Nov. I typically hear deer before I can see them anyways.

So how much do you move?

Very very little..I try to just move my head by scanning back and forth.I never alternate by standing and sitting..

X2...I think it may be due to ground hunting for so long as I think you could get away with a little more movement in the tree.

On absolutely freezing cold mornings, I've been known to climb down from my stand and do jumping jacks in a creek bed to get the blood flowing.

I move some. Gotta stand and stretch every few hours. Then there's turning your heads to noises. And arm movement from dippin and spittin in a bottle.

As little as humanly possible. I've gotten careless before and turned to scan the area just a little too fast, and WHAM! Busted! Heck, I've stayed till dark before on several occassions, thinking there wasn't a deer within 100yds of me and start to move to get out of the stand, and I'm talking about just minimal moving, and hear the all too familiar "blow" as the deer that were coming in behind me headed out to parts unknown!

I am the same way I move all the time while i'm on stand. I can't say that my movement has ever cost me a deer. But I do a lot of movement on stand just not very often. I will lean back and forth to look around the tree, and I will re-position myself ever so often, but other than that all I ever do is move my head to look to the left and right.

I have a friend who can't sit still. Then can't be in the same spot for more than an hour.
