If thats the case Bsk then they should show restraint on both sexes. I just think it would increase antlerless harvests and allow a few more bucks to increase their age. Like someone said here , some older guys seem to never want to shoot a doe. Overall the age structure of the buck deer seems to be getting better. We will never be ohio or Ill. but we certainly could be better than we are, sorry thats just my opinion. Dont want anyone to be offended!

Sure, but what about properties that are already well managed? Nothing wrong with shooting a couple of older bucks and a couple of does. But under your scenario hunters would have to shoot a bucnh of does to kill several bucks. That might be excessive if the sex ratio is already balanced.
I'm just not a fan of forced management. I prefer to see alternative management being voluntary.

Bow guy. The answer to your supposed problem is actualoy quite simple. First understand that no matter what you do on 95 acres, it isn't going to make much difference. The next thing you do is quit worrying about those older guys and just go hunt. Just be happy you have a place to hunt with the population that place has. Now if you just can't do that, if your life is miserable, if you get the heeby jeebies everytime you see one of those happy, older guys with 1.5-yr.old six point, then simply quit going. Take up golf and worry about the avian problem...birdies and eagles. No charge for that counseling Now see, your problewm is solved. I agree with BW 100%. If you want to manage property....buy or lease your own. I wouldn't go advising how someone else ought to use their own land that they allow me to hunt. I would buy him a pocket knife or Country Ham at Christmas with a nice "Thank you" note for allowing me to hunt his property. Ok it was clearly a mistake making this thread.... you guys will never get the whole picture....if I could UNPOST it I would

May have an answer for you...Good news is you have a lot more than 95 acres worth of deer. More like 5000 acres if you look at the big picture. You may be limited to only 95 acres but the deer surly aren't, a deer can travel a mile like we can travel a few hundred yards. If possible I would try and find out what is being done on surrounding property, are people hunting it or is it idol. If it is being hunted, what is their criteria? How many deer are they killing and what sex? Next and most important is where and how much do you and land owners hunt on the 95 acres? Do you hunt same stands as the owners? If so then you can simply solve that problem by hunting different areas. In my opinion killing a 1.5 yo is just not a challenge and if I'm seeing several of them while hunting then I know I'm in the wrong spot. Older or even just smarter young bucks will not follow those easy doe trails like a young dumb 1.5 will do. Also if pressure is heavy for the entire season then I would wait until November before I moved into un-hunted areas of the property. Wish you the best of luck and same to the land owners who allow you to hunt. Wow, someone in here is on the same page as me. Your reply did give me an idea thanks.

Hey Bowguy, No need to get ruffled up. You asked in your original post how you could change the old hunters or should you just shut up. I just think it is very kind of someone to let you hunt their property, and I wouldn't be trying to change them, so I could be happier. Enjoy what you have, show your appreciation and if you want something different, go get with some fellows who agree with you philosophy. No big deal.

BowGuy I know how you feel about getting invited to hunt others property when you have little to know control. I would suggest trying to change things a little at a time. Maybe try talking them into having a doe weekend or a doe week. After they see that the world did not end by killing some does things might change a bit. If not you at least tried. I would then try to find other hunting options.
